    Veterans Day

Veterans Day is observed at the University of Idaho with hosted events on the eleventh day of November of every year. The President of the University, Scott Green, supports these annual venues and sincerely welcomes veterans and their families, U of I employees, students and the general public.

    Wreath Laying Ceremony

This is a solemn event with bagpipes, buglers, a guest speaker, U of I ROTC elements and a dramatic display of flags on the NW lawn of the Administration Building on the main U of I campus in Moscow to remember those who were U of I-affiliated and lost their lives in the line of duty. This free event starts at 11 a.m. and is open for all to attend and witness. No RSVP is needed and a complimentary hot beverage service is available as this is an outdoor event lasting approximately half an hour in duration.

    Veterans Appreciation Dinner

We invite veterans, their families and the community to attend this annual dinner held in the ICCU ARENA on the University of Idaho’s Moscow main campus on Veterans Day.

As the largest veterans dinner hosted by the University of Idaho within the state, this is a dynamic evening with a keynote speaker and a full-plated dinner. RSVP is required and is free to veterans and a plus one. For more information and details please contact the Military & Veterans Services offices at veterans@uidaho.edu or 208-885-7979. For direct reservations, table sponsorships to the dinner and other gift giving opportunities please reach out to Brad Martin at bmartin@uidaho.edu or 208-885-0935.

A team from the University of Idaho robotics program recently built a wheeled robot that uses electricity to kill weeds in US Forest Service nursery seedling beds in Coeur d'Alene, ID. The robot travels rows via a programmed route while following data to differentiate between seedlings and weeds. It uses a moveable arm and electricity to “zap” weeds, killing them with a more than 95% efficiency, reducing labor costs and the use of petrol chemicals.
