    Health and wellbeing

Family and consumer sciences programs work to improve the quality of life of adults, children and families — specifically through healthy lifestyles, nutrition, food safety and financial management. Contact the UI Extension, Caribou County office at caribou@uidaho.edu or 208-547-3205 for information on current classes and programs.

    Food safety and preservation

UI Extension serves as a trusted source for up-to-date, research-based information and personalized advice on the safest methods of home food preservation and storage. We offer testing of dial pressure canner gauges. There is no cost for gauge testing. Make sure to reference research-based sources for altitude adjustments in pressure and processing times. Also make sure to use reliable sources for food preservation recipes and instructions.
